Let Godot go

I’m always waiting for something.
I’m waiting for things like Friday, summer, my birthday. Yet, when they come they aren’t that special as i thought they would be. So i wait for the another Friday, summer or birthday. Those are the things we’re all waiting for because they’re supposed to be special.

“Mr. Godot told me to tell you he won’t come this evening, but surely tomorrow”.
What i try to do instead is to love this crappy Tuesday instead of waiting for weekend to come. I also don’t hate Mondays (actually it’s completely opposite because i get can sleep how much i want to because my university starts in the afternoon).

“Vladimir: I don’t understand.
Estragon: Use your intelligence, can’t you?
Vladimir uses his intelligence.
Vladimir: (finally) I remain in the dark”

If you wish and wait your life away you miss the amazingness (is that even a word) of this moment. If you’re drinking tea, make tea the most important thing in your life. Notice how it burns your tongue, how it tastes, how it smells. If you’re walking to school / uni / work take a look at the color of the sky, face expressions of the people who pass by, rays of sunshine on your face or the little sound raindrops make on your umbrella (depends on the weather). If you’re talking to someone, listen to them, notice how their face changes depending on topics they’re talking about.
Not a long ago i read an article which said that Mayans had the theory that time is not linear but spiral which basically means that only things that exists is present. Past has passed and you can’t change it or do anything about it, and future is so unpredictable, you can’t even know if you will be alive (this sounds scary, but who knows what will happen next).
So only thing left is right now, right?

If you’re waiting for a sign to make something happen, this would be it.

  1. Very true. I've reached a point in my life where I think that I need to stand still and look around. This 'waiting for Friday' thing is always a let down and the next one is around so soon! The heart of mindfulness.

  4. I live my life waiting for my plans to happen to. I wait to go on the trips I've planned, I wait to spend the weekend in nature as I planned, I wait to go for that dinner that I've planned. And sometimes all this anticipation makes the moment last a bit shorter... I feel that there is no time to stop and just look around, just observe and enjoy. I wish is was. I can only afford this luxury when I travel. And I remember that moment, in Hong Kong, sitting at a table in a McDonalds, alone, only affording to eat a Big Mac, but thinking how awesome that was. I was in blody Hong Kong, reached it after a 2 months journey by train, starting in Europe. It was me sitting there, doing nothing, just purely enjoying the moment. And that feeling was so overwhelming that made me cry!

    1. That's great! That was what i'm trying to say, life is made of moments like that. I know it's hard to stop and observe in everyday life because we're so busy, but just as you said - that feeling is overwhelming (and beautiful!) :)

  23. Living life as though "there's only us, there's only this" (ripping off Rent) seems to me to leave life empty. If now is all there is, then there isn't much....
